La Herradura is considered one of the best places in Andalusia for activities and water sports because of the wide range and high quality of different aquatic activities on offer.
The village itself is situated in a beautiful bay surrounded by mountains, with two mounts (Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo) rising directly at both ends of the horseshoe bay; and this is what gives the unique area its name.
The beach here is 2 kilometres long. East of the village, you'll discover amongst the prettiest marinas of Andalusia, namely Marina del Este and west of the village, natural beauty reigns with the spectacular natural land and marine park, Los Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo.
